Most of us are moaning that remote working means we attend even more meetings than we did at the office. And, as ever, most of them are more about sharing information than making decisions.
At the same time however, I know of very few organizations that are truly effective in
a) capturing important information – especially the stuff that otherwise only exists in the heads of specialist employees, and
b) making it available to all the relevant people, wherever they are, via a centralized, well-structured, and easy to access repository.
If we can fix this information availability problem, our calendars will become a whole lot emptier.
We might even get some real work done.
And we can focus on ensuring that the meetings we do have are shorter, action-oriented and actually drive progress toward our objectives.
